This work begins from the notion that one can never truly know what unfolds within another’s inner world, no matter how carefully it is concealed. The seemingly playful and delicate doodles veil a heavier, deeper meaning, inviting the viewer to unravel what lies beneath. Persephone, goddess of the underworld and of spring, holds a golden mask, a mask that softens and beautifies the face she presents to the world, while her inner reality remains complex and shadowed. The painting suggests that everything may be an optical illusion: you can never truly know what someone carries within. Things are not always what they seem.
